Passionate for color: The finished work

Passion Tumblers

These are a couple of my newest finished pieces– Passion tumblers. I finally got around to photographing my finished work. There will be more to come! But this is just a peek at my latest success πŸ˜‰

Things are coming together nicely, I think. I am splashing color on every piece, then I wax and carve in line drawings, and fill them with a different color. There are some complications when planning a firing since I work this way– I use a lot of wax. I use it in the making stage, and I have to reapply it on the color panel at the bisque stage before glazing. That means that I go through wax almost like I drink my tea! Anyway, I was planning on firing a kiln this week, but there were scheduling conflicts and on the day when I decided I would just load it up and fire it, I found out that I was completely out of wax, but my bisqued pots weren’t all waxed. It was enough of the pots that I wouldn’t have been able to justify firing such a big kiln. So I gave up for the day and ordered more wax online. And now, even though I was given wax yesterday, I haven’t had time to glaze my pots and load a kiln because I had to clean and arrange pots for our giant studio sale. It is such a crazy week! But I am thinking about firing on Sunday. We’ll see. For now, here’s some more finished work! πŸ™‚
